Harry Reasoner - I was at the airport in Columbus, Ohio, sitting at the gate. Next thing I know, Harry Reasoner sat down across from me. I recognized him immediately because he was on “60 Minutes.” Almost speechless, I asked him, “Are you Harry Reasoner?” to which he slightly grinned and replied, “That’s what they call me.” I told him I was on my way to Marine Corps boot camp. He just looked at me as if he didn’t believe me, probably because I was so young and skinny. But then he replied in an encouraging tone and with that slight grin, “Good luck.” Right at that moment, a voice on the airport PA system was calling for him to pick up the white courtesy phone. As he was getting up he said, “Well, gotta go.” Then he smiled and walked away. He was a nice guy.
