Jonas Salk - I went to Warm Springs, GA for the 50th anniversity of the death of FDR to see President Clinton speak. I got to be right at the walkway, where all the guests were to walk in. I saw Pres. Clinton walk by, very impressive in person. But before he arrived, the line had stopped as people were being seated. Before me was an elderly man with a straw hat. Our eyes met and I nodded a hello and he nodded back. We stood staring at each other thinking "Do you want to talk?" We never did. After 5 minutes we smiled and nodded again and he moved on. Later, looking at the program, I noticed to my horror I had been standing in front of Jonas Salk. What questions I could have asked!!! One of the greatest men in the 20th century! All we did was nod. But still a great day I will never forget.
