Story 250
Lee Greenwood - I was part owner of a radio station in Florence, South Carolina. The local air base was being renovated or open, can't remember exactly. Anyway, they had flown Lee Greewood in to sing "God Bless The USA". Afterwards, there was a reception. I was there with recorder in hand wanting to do an interview with Mr. Greenwood. This was at the time of Desert Storm and it was more emotional to have him there at the time. When I approached him, he was very curt and snide and informed me that he didn't talk to disc jockeys. Well this disc jockey happened to be the Program Director and Vice President of the company. I promptly returned to the station and removed Mr. Greenwood from the station's playlist. That happened in 1991 and to this day, I have NEVER played a Lee Greenwood record since.
