Story 138
Liza Minnelli - Way back in the mid-1980's, I attended a Liza Minnelli concert at the Blossom Music Center in Akron, Ohio. I had the great fortune to have front row seats and sitting to my left was a girl about 13 with her father. At the girl's feet was a long, white box that obviously contained flowers for Liza. About halfway through the concert, just as Liza finished a rousing song-and-dance number, the girl reached down, picked up the box and placed it on the stage in front of her. During the applause, Liza noticed the gift and walked over to us. She knelt down on the stage, leaned over into the first row and shook the young girl's hand, thanked her and asked if her address was inside the box. The stunned girl nodded yes. Somewhere in this world a woman in her 30's probably has in her possession a lovely thank you note from Liza.
