Red Skelton - I was on the way (late) to an 8:00 History class in the middle of a Muncie, Indiana blizzard at Ball State University when I noticed a vague shadow of a person on the walk several yards in front of me. As I approached, a voice said "Excuse me, miss, do you know the time?" WOW! I remembered that voice as the only reason I was allowed to stay up past 8:00 at night; it was none other than THE man who was Clem, Gertrude & Heathcliff, Red and many others. And do you suppose he wanted to answer all MY questions about his characters or his art or anything? Nope. All he wanted to know was what I was studying and all about boring little ME. I'll never forget that warm wonderful encounter with one af America's great entertainers - I'll also never stop wondering why the heck he wanted to take his morning walk in the middle of a blizzard.
