Story 462
William Shatner - I was a clerk in the store of a local stable in Muncie, Indiana that sold anything you could want for horses. One day a man walked up and said he had an appointment with the owner. She was due back soon so he said he'd wait. I kept looking at him thinking I had seen him before and it drove me nuts for about 5 minutes. Then it hit me, "It's Captain Kirk." I thought what the hell would he being doing at a stable in Muncie? When the owner came back I told her there was a man there to see her and that he looked like Captain Kirk from "Star Trek". She said, "Oh my god, you did not tell him that did you?" I said no. The owner had me go out with her to meet him. He gave her a hug and said it had been a long time since they had seen each other. The owner of the stable then looked at me and said, "Go ahead. Tell him what you told me." I was a little embarrassed, but asked him, "Has anyone ever told you look like Captain Kirk?" He shook his head and laughed and said, "Yes, I get that all the time." I said, "OK" and headed to my office. The owner of the stable then said, "Stop messing with her. Tell her who you are." "I am Captain Kirk," he said. I replied, "Yeah, right, buddy, and I'm Stevie Nicks. Nice to meet you." So then he took out his driver's license. It said William Shatner and it was a California license. I asked, "How does this prove you are Captain Kirk?" As soon as I said it a light bulb went off in my head. William Shatner is his real name. I felt so stupid. He just looked at me and laughed. I found out that he is very into horses and that he buys stuff from the stable all the time and had for years. I saw him several times after that. He'd come in and buy things when he was in town or he would call in an order over the phone. Each time he would say, "Hi, Stevie, this is Captain Kirk." and I knew exactly who I was talking to.
