Yma Sumac - My Mom took me to see this woman with the amazing vocal range at The University of Arizona in Tucson. After Ms Sumac was finished performing, we climbed up the stairs leading to the stage and I remember shaking inside as we approached her. She was so exotic and glamorous with her long black hair and long nails painted bright red...I thought she was beautiful! As we came up to her, she was smiling broadly at me...not at all bothered by the awestruck little girl atanding before her. She shook my hand and graciously signed her name for me. I never forgot her kindness!
